She began her career as a teenager at the Hungarian Film Production Company and then became a trainee at the State Hungarian Photo Company. During the 1956 Revolution, she photographed the streets. She was arrested by a Soviet patrol but, fortunately, only the film in her camera was destroyed. She worked as a photojournalist for the Hungarian News Agency from 1957 and later became a senior staff member there for more than thirty years. A defining aspect of her oeuvre was the portrayal of outstanding figures of Hungarian intellectual life. She was also the author of several articles and books. Her work was recognised with numerous awards, including the Béla Balázs Prize and the Award for Hungarian Art. She was bestowed the title of Meritorious Artist in 2014. She was a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
