(1978, Kolozsvár / Cluj-Napoca, RO))

Sándor Áron Károly graduated from the Ion Andreescu University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca in 2002. At the start of his career his main area of interest was the interplay between historical photography and the various contemporary disciplines of art. He continued his studies at the Doctoral School of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, defending his dissertation titled ”The role and possibilities of archaic processes in the digital era” in 2009. He has participated in the organisation of numerous Hungarian and international exhibitions, including those held as part of the Photomonth Festival and the European Month of Photography. In recent years, he has focused on sports and its beneficial physical and mental effects, as well as on the relationship between man and nature. His works depict personal experience, physical and mental effort, often in a performative manner, with the focus being on documenting and representing these challenges.
