Rey Complex Figure Test with the members of FotóFalu

Rey Complex Figure Test with the members of FotóFalu

2022

digital capture; archival pigment print
160 × 120 cm

The Rey–Osterrieth Complex Figure Test, which forms the basis of the work, is a psychological assessment designed to evaluate visual memory. The figure is composed of geometric shapes that the participant must first copy and then reproduce from memory. The method reveals variations in recall processes, while the blurred portraits of the artists emphasise the distinctive role photography has in acts of recollection.

The realisation of the artwork was supported by the Scholarship Programme of the Academy of Hungarian Art.

Enikő Gábor

(1972, Budapest)

Rudolf Balogh Award-winning photographer. She completed her studies in the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 1996 and won the three-year József Pécsi Scholarship. She was the recipient of the grand prix of the 12th Photography Biennial of Esztergom in 2000 with her series Camera Reluxa. From 2022, she was a scholarship holder of the Hungarian Academy of Arts. Her approach is analytical, and in her work, she primarily examines the process of how a photograph is created and its relationship to time and space. Through a comparison of old and new methods, her research analyses the historical changes of the medium, revealing the unexploited potential of technically outdated processes and their impact on our visual culture. Her works are preserved in the collections of Hungarian and foreign museums.
