WOOD WIDE WEB – A Fictional World under the Surface

WOOD WIDE WEB – A Fictional World under the Surface

2025

mixed media: collage, digital photography, artificial intelligence, freehand drawing artwork on paper; mounted on Kapaplast base with glued elements
80 × 140 cm

I present a subterranean world in my work. At the level of roots, visible and invisible connections unfold: networks of a fictional realm from my imagination, intertwined with the root systems of trees and the endless filaments of fungi, all inhabited by imaginary underground creatures. These remain anchored to the surface, jointly sustaining the world above while drawing life from it themselves. I have set the underground network in parallel with the internet, which feeds AI. Using graphics, photography and artificial intelligence, I visualise the hidden structures of natural cycles, creating new imaginary connections between natural and artificial systems.
