Mátyás Misetics

(1982, Budapest)

Mátyás Misetics graduated in photography from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 2007. In addition to domestic shows, his photos have been successful at international events such as Art Paris (France), the MIA Photo Fair (Italy), and the Radiator Gallery (US) exhibition Let’s Face It in New York. His series Artificial Light, which was featured in the exhibition Hungarian Photography in the New Millennium at the Hungarian National Gallery, launched a new direction in contemporary Hungarian photography. He often crosses the genre boundaries of photography, which is also how the series Dark Matter, exhibited at the Várfok Gallery, came about. His latest works focus on the intersections between photography and motion pictures, as well as on audiovisual installations: the relationship between sound and image, their mutual influence and spatial extension have become defining elements of his creative practice.
