Melinda Kovács regards photography as a tool for creating images that she uses to produce her conceived pictures. She was previously influenced by works of fine art, as well as the themes and possibilities presented by painting. She mainly produces her pictures in her studio, where she composes her still lifes and spaces. Her works combine analogue and digital image creation. She applies a unique colouring technique in the analogue process to achieve images that are both painterly and distinctive. She only makes one enlargement of each of her photographs. Her most important solo exhibitions include: Bratislava Month of Photography (1995, 1999), the Collegium Hungaricum, Vienna (1999), the World Trade Centre, Helsinki (2000), the Budapest Gallery (2008), the Karinthy Salon (2022), the Tihany Benedictine Abbey Gallery (2023), the Vác Ecclesiastical Art Collection (2024), and the Esztergom Danube Museum (2025). Awards recognising her include ones from the National Photography Biennial (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994), the József Pécsi Scholarship (1992–1995), the Rudolf Balogh Award (2012), the Hungarian Academy of Arts Scholarship (2018–2021), and the Komárom-Esztergom County Prima Award (2023).
