László Körtvélyesi is one of the pioneers of the revival of civil aerial photography in Hungary that started in the 1970s. He has worked as a photographer for the Pécs Ballet and the Pécs National Theatre since 1979 and taught practical photography at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs from 1992. He is a member of the Association of Hungarian Photographers. Before the advent of digital technology, he worked with medium- and large-format cameras. He has had a studio in Pécs for decades, where he plays an active role in the city’s cultural and artistic life; in 2020 he received the Pro Civitate Award. For many years, he has documented the lives, customs and traditional dress of Germans in Hungary, and more recently of Croats in Baranya County; he had his fifth volume published on this subject in 2025. He is currently working on processing his archive and on an autobiographical book.
