Illés Sarkantyu graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in 2000. He has been living and working in France since 2002, first active as a photographer and then as a director of artistic films. Recurring motifs in his works are the questions of presence and absence, memory and heritage. His series of images are characterised by genre diversity, technical simplicity, and the frequent use of frontal shots. In recent years, he has presented his solo exhibitions in Brussels (2020), Paris (2022), and Bretagne (2024). His works can be found in several public collections, including the Domaine départemental de Kerguéhennec (F), the Hungarian Museum of Photography, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest.
