The pandemic that struck society and the need for digital devices after the sudden shift to digital education in its wake caused serious difficulties for many families, schools and children. Non-profit organisations that work with families living in poverty began collecting equipment in spring as there was only a single smartphone in many households, which the parent had to take with them when leaving home. Mobile phones are not suitable learning tools for children, especially when several of them need to log into the school portal simultaneously, follow classes and download and upload assignments. While adults speculate about the impact the past year and a half had on children, many young people between the ages of 6 and 18 are simply trying to process the fact that they had to exist in a situation unfamiliar to the entire world. For children living in deprivation and poor conditions, one advantage of home learning was that they did not have to walk several kilometres to school and back every day, sometimes in rain or bitter cold.
