Attila Vécsy obtained his photographer’s vocational certificate from the Dési Huber István Vocational School. Between 1974 and 2024, he worked at the Agricultural Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences alongside the photographer Endre Schwanner, whom he regards as his mentor. He was a member of the MADOME Budapest Photo Club from 1976 and of the Studio of Young Photographers between 1978 and 1983. During the 1970s and 1980s, he devoted himself to experimental photography, producing images through unconventional methods and boldly employing special films and development processes, including chemicals not originally intended for paper-based enlargements. He has been a member of the Association of Hungarian Photographers since 1991. He taught photography at the Budapest Vocational School for Services and Crafts from 1993 to 1998. In 1998, he graduated in pedagogy as well as special educational needs and developmental pedagogy at the Eszterházy Károly Teacher Training College in Eger. Together with his wife, he ran the ATIKA Photo Studio and Gallery from 1998 to 2002. He was awarded the Rudolf Balogh Award in 2018.
